I’ve always liked the almost horizontal, console mounted shifter on the Polonez. It was one of the reasons why I wanted to get one for a while now.

that’s a bit weird.

Did they do it like that on purpose? Or did the mold just slip in production lol.
I’d have to try it IRL to see how it feels. The Renault 4 “umbrella” shifter is great fun to use, so this might be as well.

Oh and btw, I LOVE that canvas on the seats, I might find something like that for my Volvo upholstery.

So you’re saying it’s basically an Alfa

I really hope it was done on purpose. :D
The shift pattern is completely standard, except obviously instead of the shifter going forward and backward it goes more up and down. It feels pretty intuitive overall.

Yeah, it's a sea of wooly, Tweedy grey. Pretty hilarious. It's very rare to find this upholstery pattern in good shape so I was very lucky there.

It’s clearly much better than an Alfa because the Polonez at least has adequate windshield demist vents, not the 2 round vents in the middle bollocks. ;D

So when are you sending RallyDarkStrikr a 126?

Those horizontal levers are cheaper because they go straight into the box rather than having a remote change like this with an extra and expensive casting and shafts to allow the lever to be further back.
Also, I see that Polonez is the Polified version of
polonaise,
a dance. Also and furthermore
, the Polonez was made with Fiat and Ford engines at various times plus Peugeot and VM diesels.

How DOES the demist function do anyway? :P

I demand a post explaining how the Multilock works for the benefit of everybody here to see the wisdom of it’s design and the security and peace-of-mind if offers
:P

Funnily enough, the 125p had a normal, upright shifter originally, but when they moved on it Polonez gearboxes the shifter started coming out of the floor at a slightly odd angle.
And yeah, the Polonez used old Fiat 1300/1500 (and later bored out to 1.6), 2.0 DOHC Fiat engines, 2.0 Ford Sierra engines, 1.4 K-series Rover engines, 2.0 VM Turbodiesels and 1.9 XUD diesels from PSA.

Sure. I don't have any photos of it in operation at the moment though. :(

Haven't really had an opportunity to test it out properly just yet.
